Governor Polis Takes Action in Response to Fires in Garfield and Las Animas Counties

DENVER- Today, Governor Polis issued two Executive Orders memorializing verbal action taken last month in response to the Spring Creek Fire in Garfield County and the Titan Fire in Las Animas County. 

The Executive Order in response to the Spring Creek Fire in Garfield County memorializes verbal action taken by Gov. Polis on June 27, 2023, declaring a disaster emergency and activating the Colorado Emergency Operations Plan. The Executive Order allocates funds for costs associated with the State’s fire suppression, response, consequence management, mitigation, and recovery efforts. 

The Executive Order in response to the Titan Fire in Las Animas County memorializes verbal action taken by Gov. Polis on June 28, 2023, declaring a disaster emergency and activating the Colorado Emergency Operations Plan. The Executive Order allocates funds for costs associated with the State’s fire suppression, response, consequence management, mitigation, and recovery efforts.
