Serve Colorado Now Accepting Applications for Community Development Financial Institutions to be part of AmeriCorps’ Economic Mobility Corps

Wednesday, November 18, 2020

DENVER —  Serve Colorado is accepting applications for the 2020-2021 Economic Mobility Corps (EMC). The EMC engages AmeriCorps members to strengthen the capacity of Certified Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) to provide financial literacy, financial counseling, and financial planning services offered by the Certified CDFIs, to distressed and underserved individuals.

The EMC is a joint initiative of the CDFI Fund and AmeriCorps. Full-time AmeriCorps members will be placed in Certified CDFIs and will receive training on the principles of financial counseling and financial literacy.

“Financial literacy and planning are important skills for every individual and family. The Economic Mobility Corps will help more Coloradans access these services,” said Lieutenant Governor Dianne Primavera. “I am looking forward to learning about the ways potential applicants propose to utilize this resource during the upcoming grant competition.”

Although CMC members must be placed at a Certified CDFI, any non-federal institution of higher education, local government, nonprofit organization or state entity is welcome to apply.

Applications are due to Serve Colorado no later than December 3, 2020 at 4:59 pm MT. For more information on applying, please visit www.colorado.gov/servecolorado and click the “2021 Economic Mobility Corps” link under “Funding”.
