Governor Jared Polis Delivers 2021 State of the State Address

DENVER — Colorado Governor Jared Polis today delivered the 2021 State of the State address to the Colorado General Assembly today. 

“This has been one of the most challenging years of our lifetimes. But as Coloradans, we face down tough times with grit, and overcome them together. When I became Governor, I knew that leading our state through good times and bad — but especially through darkness, whenever and however it came — would be my most important responsibility. Over the last year we’ve faced a global pandemic, historic wildfires, and an unprecedented attack on our democracy. And now we have an opportunity for rebirth -- for renewal — to rise from the ashes to fulfill the promise of a Colorado for All,” said Governor Polis. 

“Fulfilling that promise means building back stronger than before the pandemic, creating jobs, tax relief, helping small businesses, saving people money on health care, taking bold climate action and achieving 100% renewable energy and building an economy that works for all.  It means ensuring Colorado is the best state in the country to start and raise a family by offering paid family leave, universal preschool, universal full-day kindergarten, and providing a truly affordable higher education. It means protecting our Colorado way of life for generations to come,” said Governor Polis. “This year we’ve been bruised, battered and shaken to our core  — but nevertheless the state of Colorado remains strong. We are prime for bold transformational change. If we seize the opportunity, we can finally live up to our fullest potential to truly create a Colorado for All.”

“Este ha sido uno de los años más desafiantes de nuestras vidas. Pero como Coloradenses enfrentamos momentos difíciles con determinación y los superamos juntos. Cuando fui elegido Gobernador, sabía que dirigir a nuestro estado en los buenos y malos tiempos, pero especialmente en la oscuridad, sin importar el motivo ni cuándo y cómo llegaría, sería mi responsabilidad más importante. Durante el último año hemos enfrentado una pandemia mundial, incendios forestales históricos y un ataque sin precedentes a nuestra democracia. Y ahora tenemos la oportunidad de renacer, de renovar, de resurgir de las cenizas para cumplir la promesa de un Colorado para todos ”, dijo el Gobernador Polis.

“Cumplir esa promesa significa reconstruir más fuerte que antes de la pandemia, crear empleos, reducir impuestos, apoyar a las pequeñas empresas, ayudar a las personas que tienen gastos médicos ahorrar dinero, tomar medidas importantes para combatir el cambio climático y alcanzar una meta de energía 100% renovable, y construir una economía que funciona para todos. Significa asegurar que Colorado sea el mejor estado del país para formar una familia ofreciendo pago por ausencia laboral debido a temas familiares, educación de pre-kinder y kinder universal de día completo para cada niño,  y un sistema de educación superior verdaderamente accesible. Significa proteger nuestro estilo de vida en Colorado para las generaciones del futuro ”, dijo el gobernador Polis. “Este año pasado nos ha causado mucho daño y hemos sufrido mucho, sin embargo, el estado de Colorado sigue siendo fuerte.  Estamos preparados para una transformación audaz. Si aprovechamos esta oportunidad, finalmente podremos alcanzar nuestro máximo potencial y verdaderamente crear un Colorado para todos ".
