Gov. Polis Partners with Community-Based Organizations, Hosts Clinics as Part of Vaccines for All Plan

Friday, April 23, 2021

DENVER - As part of Governor Polis’ Vaccines for All efforts, the State of Colorado is allocating vaccines to community-based organizations. All of these clinics focus on vaccinating underserved Coloradans and span a variety of diverse communities.

“Colorado and numerous providers and community organizations in our state are working together to ensure that getting this lifesaving vaccine is easy, quick, and, most of all, distributed equitably across our state. The ability to restart the Johnson & Johnson one-shot vaccine will save lives,” said Governor Jared Polis. “Colorado is committed to ensuring that access to the vaccine is free and easy for everyone in Colorado, no matter your age, ethnicity, immigration status, or health care coverage.”

We encourage everyone interested in an appointment to check availability with each organization and schedule an appointment in advance.

Bayaud Enterprises

"We are excited and proud to partner with CDPHE and ARC Thrift to provide these important vaccines to our participants and their families.  This is an important step for our community's health and safety.  We also want to thank the Colorado Centennial Fund, a subsidiary of Caring for Colorado Foundation, Together We Protect Vaccine Equity Fund, for their generous support to make this vaccine clinic possible,” said Tammy Bellofatto, Executive Director.

Denver Design Center and Denver City Council District 7

“We have seen that access to the vaccine is a big roadblock for many people trying to get vaccinated.  The central location of the Denver Design District, a short walk away from the RTD light rail line and bike routes, provides a great opportunity for folks to easily get in and out for their vaccination. We are very excited to be able to offer a hybrid clinic where people can walk, roll, bike, use transit or drive to their vaccine,” said Jolon Clark, Denver City Councilman District 7.

Denver Park Hill Seventh-day Adventist Church

“We are grateful for our partnership with CDPHE in administering the COVID-19 vaccine to the residents of North Park Hill and beyond. We are glad that we are able to provide a safe space for those who receive the vaccine from us, and we thank the surrounding community for their donations, words of encouragement, time, and prayers. Through these clinics, we have turned feelings of skepticism into hope, given our patients' peace of mind, and expanded our Christian family and community. Thank you for the opportunity to serve Colorado,” said Dr. Erynn M. Burks, Director of Cherry Pointe Health and Wellness.

DSST: Byers Middle & High School

“DSST: Byers is an intentionally integrated school community, and this year we have deeply felt the impact of COVID-19. We hope that by providing easy access to the Pfizer vaccine on our campus, families can take advantage of the opportunity to keep themselves and their loved ones safe. Plus, we have 123 college-going seniors who are about to graduate; we are hoping for a slight return to ‘normal’ this fall for them at college and want to do our part to help with that effort,” said Molly Couture, Director of School Operations.

Harvest Church

“Bishop Kevin Foreman & Harvest Church have been community transformers for years. Whether through the 204,000+ pounds of food given away, 129,000+ articles of clothing given away, 3,570+ backpacks full of supplies for students given away,19,952+ toys given to children during Christmas, or 3,127+ families that have been adopted & provided for, Harvest Church has always existed to change lives and now is a greater time than any to help the community begin to bounce back by serving as a vaccination site & we’re grateful to partner with our Governor to see as many Coloradans as possible vaccinated," said Roz Bailey, Events Coordinator.

We thank Governor Polis and his office for their help and leadership in getting us one step closer!” said Mike Cristoff, Principal.

The Hmong Community of CO and Adams County Government / Riverdale Regional Park

"We are honored to partner with our Hmong community and CDPHE to hold a vaccination clinic at our Riverdale Regional Park this weekend. Our intention with hosting equity clinics is to remove barriers people may be facing to get vaccinated, and provide a safe, central location where we focus on communities who may otherwise not have an opportunity to get a vaccination. We are grateful to our partners in the Hmong community for their support,” said Eva J. Henry, Adams County Commissioner and Board Chair.

Boulder County Public Health

“Over 61% of Boulder County residents have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and we are very proud that we are daily administering 3,798 doses. If we keep up this pace, we project that 70% of the eligible population will have at least one dose by May 7,” said Angela Simental, Communications Manager.

SUNDAY, APRIL 25

DSST Conservatory Green High School

“We are thrilled to be working in conjunction with the Governor’s Office to offer a community vaccine clinic at DSST: Conservatory Green High School. We know that vaccinations are one of the most important ways we can keep our community safe – having a local site with known staff from our school is one of the ways we can support this effort. Students, parents and the larger Conservatory Green community are a huge part of our school and we are glad to be able to help provide this important service to them!” said Meghan Janci, Associate School Director.

This event will tie together the importance of vaccination in a culturally attuned and celebratory manner, to ensure that our families and communities can once again come together safely and healthily. Sí se puede! #nocosevacuna,” said Suman Mathur, MSPH, Evaluator & Data Analyst.

United Church of Montbello

“We, (the United Church of Montbello) are thankful to the CDPHE and the Colorado Equity Taskforce for helping us bring Covid Vaccinations Clinics to the Montbello and Green Valley Ranch neighborhoods.  We realize the importance of getting the vaccine is to protect ourselves as well as our families.  We are hopeful that accurate information distributed will help others feel comfortable to make the decision to get vaccinated,” said Julia Ellington, Elder and member of Health Care Ministry.

Atlas Preparatory School

"At Atlas, we believe in going beyond a school to provide the supports and resources necessary for our students and families to thrive. We applied to be a vaccine equity site after reading about the large disparity in vaccine access in low-income communities, both locally and nationally. Given that the zip codes we serve have been the hardest hit by COVID cases in the past year, we want to be part of the solution in promoting health equity and access. We are excited to provide the Pfizer vaccine to individuals in our area who are 16 years and older and hope that anyone interested is able to attend our drive-thru clinic,” said Cynthia Peña,

Admissions and Enrollment Coordinator.

MONDAY, APRIL 26

Westside Cares / Marion House

“Westside CARES is honored to have been selected as a vaccine clinic location as part of Governor Polis’ Vaccines for All plan. As a small nonprofit that serves 22,000 neighbors in need each year, we are confident that our site will reach people who need the vaccine the most who may not be able to access it anywhere else. Westside CARES strives to provide a holistic suite of services to people experiencing poverty and other under-served demographics to enhance health and hope. Being able to provide the vaccine at our site will expand our ability to serve, and will reach the neighbors with whom we have trusting relationships, who might be missed by the current vaccine deployment models,” said Kristy Milligan, Chief Executive Officer.

“In the past three days, we have had 6 positive COVID tests in the Colorado Springs population experiencing homelessness. It is imperative that we offer vaccines at our Westside CARES Community Center,  a trusted resource for our under-resourced neighborhood.  The clinic is designed as a walk-up clinic for easy access,” said  Mary E Jewell, MD, Medical Director.

Ivywild School

“As the owner of Able Care Mobile Therapy, COVID-19 has been hard on our providers and our patients. I struggled to find vaccines for our Providers and know the toll it has taken on our patients, both mentally and physically. We can't get our loved ones vaccinated quick enough. That's why when Governor Polis put out the call to providers in January we answered. Mobile is our middle name! I knew that we were in the unique position to help our neighbors by taking COVID-19 vaccination clinics "mobile".  I have been working closely with the state since then to make sure that I was getting it right as we serve our community,” said Lynn Peier, Founder.

TUESDAY, APRIL 27

Trinity UMC Food Pantry

“I set out in my own neighborhood of Old Colorado City and found a wonderful partner with the Trinity UMC Food Pantry. They are as eager to serve their community as we are. We currently are scheduling appointments, but as supply allows we will accept walk-ups and have on-site registration assistance available. I am excited to be making the Covid-19 vaccine available to those who may be struggling to get to one of the larger sites, need a little assistance scheduling their appointments or who just prefer to stay closer to home,” said Lynn Peier, Founder, Owner, Administrator.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 28

National Renewable Energy Laboratory

“In support of our commitment to be good community ambassadors, NREL developed a partnership with Jefferson County Public Health and began hosting drive-through vaccination clinics on our campus in mid-March,” said Dr. Roxana Witter, NREL’s director of Occupational Health Services. “Subsequently, we’ve administered over 5,000 shots, vaccinating more than 3,000 people, including 1,600 underserved members of our community, and this Friday, we look forward to administering an additional 1,200 vaccine doses.”
