Gov. Polis appoints District Court Judge in 10th Judicial District

DENVER — Gov. Jared Polis today announced the appointment of Amiel J. Markenson as a district court judge in the 10th Judicial District to fill a position created pursuant to Senate Bill 19-043.

Markenson currently serves as a Lead Deputy State Public Defender in the Office of the Colorado State Public Defender, where he practices criminal defense. He has been with the Public Defender since 2011, previously as a County Court Supervisor and Deputy State Public Defender. Markenson earned his B.A. from the University of Colorado in 2005, and his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2010.

The appointment is effective July 1, 2019.
