Gov. Polis appoints Second Judicial District Court Judge

DENVER — Gov. Jared Polis today announced the appointment of Jill Deborah Dorancy to the Second Judicial District Court. Her appointment is occasioned by the resignation of the Honorable Elizabeth A. Starrs. 

Dorancy is Counsel for Jost Energy Law, P.C., a position she has held since 2017. Her practice focuses on oil and gas litigation and regulatory matters. Previously, Ms. Dorancy was a hearing officer for the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (2012-2017); Partner at Cooper & Dorancy, LLC (2001-2012); Associate at Ireland Stapleton Pryor & Pascoe, P.C. (2000-2001); Associate at Ritsema & Lyon P.C. (2000); and Associate for Goldstein & Associates P.C. (1998-1999). Dorancy also clerked for the Honorable Justice Gregory K. Scott of the Colorado Supreme Court (1999-2000). Dorancy earned her B.A. from Binghamton University - State University of New York in 1995 and her J.D. from the University of New Mexico in 1998.

Dorancy’s appointment is effective July 1, 2020.
