Federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Paired with Colorado’s Own Historic Infrastructure Investment will Repair Roads, Bridges, Help Our Economy and Climate
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Governor Polis attended the signing of the bipartisan federal infrastructure bill at the White House today and met with senior Biden administration officials about the COVID-19 response.
Governor Polis was one of the first governors in the country to support this new federal law.
President Biden signed the bill this afternoon on the west lawn of the White House in Washington, D.C., and both Democrats and Republican federal officials, members of Colorado’s federal delegation attended the bill signing.
“This new bipartisan federal law will complement Colorado’s own new infrastructure law and will help create jobs, fix our roads, bridges, protect our water, expand broadband and address the climate issues we face. I was honored to join President Biden, Republican, and Democratic Governors from across our country today because no matter your political affiliation, we all want to fix our roads, reduce traffic, and improve our quality of life. I’m glad both parties and Congress were finally able to come together to support a once-in-a-generation investment to fix and rebuild our country’s infrastructure,” said Gov. Polis. “The biggest winners of this deal are Coloradans and Americans.”
This new federal law paired with the historic infrastructure law Gov. Polis signed this summer at Floyd Hill will help repair roads, bridges, grow our economy, improve broadband access and address climate issues.
Governor Polis then met with members of the Biden administration’s COVID-19 response team today including Jeff Zients, White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator.
“It’s a dangerous time to be unvaccinated and today, I spoke directly with Biden administration officials about tools and policies we need and are using to slow the spread of the virus and the dangerous delta variant including ensuring we have ample supply of the booster and pediatric doses while partnering on efforts to scale up monoclonal treatment,” said Gov. Polis. “President Biden and his team entered office with a strong and open dialogue about how to support states like Colorado in our fight against COVID and we are proud to partner with them because we are all in this together.”
