DENVER — Today, Lt. Governor Dianne Primavera participated in a bipartisan panel discussion at the 4th annual Reeve Summit 2025, hosted by the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation.

The 5th annual summit, Where Care, Cure and Community Connect, brought together individuals living with paralysis, caregivers, families, healthcare providers, scientists, and community leaders to explore innovative solutions for living with spinal cord injuries, paralysis, and other complex disabilities. Covering topics from employment to quality healthcare and caregiving support, the event fosters collaboration among advocates, policymakers, and thought leaders to advance disability rights and inclusion nationwide.

“This conversation is an opportunity to highlight the progress we’ve made in advancing disability rights while also acknowledging the work still ahead,” said Lt. Governor Primavera. “Disability rights are human rights, and real change happens when those most impacted lead the conversation.”

Colorado has long been a leader in disability rights, working to ensure accessibility, equity, and opportunity for all. As chair of the state's Disability Rights Task Force, Lt. Governor Primavera has been instrumental in championing policies that promote independence, inclusion, and dignity for individuals with disabilities.

Lt. Governor Primavera joined a distinguished panel of leaders, including Colorado State Representative Rose Pugliese, disability rights advocate Angela Montgomery, and former Arizona State Representative Jennifer Longdon, a disability rights advocate and individual that uses a wheelchair. Former Colorado State Representative David Ortiz, the first individual who uses a wheelchair elected to the Colorado General Assembly, moderated the discussion.

The panel, titled “Moving Forward to Create Change: State Advocacy Roundtable,” focused on how individuals and policymakers can work together to advance disability rights at the state level.

The Reeve Summit 2025 provides a platform for stakeholders to exchange ideas and develop strategies to improve the quality of life for individuals living with paralysis and other disabilities. With a focus on both policy and grassroots advocacy, the event aims to inspire action and collaboration across states.
