AVON - Governor Polis continued the Powering the Comeback Tour, visiting businesses highlighting employee-ownership and making sustainability easy for everyday people. The Governor also met with local leaders to discuss how to continue moving Colorado forward, get more people vaccinated to protect our economic progress and future.

“It’s exciting to visit Colorado’s small businesses in Edwards, Avon and Vail that are using bold ideas to help us build back better than before the pandemic,” said Governor Jared Polis. "We all can play a role in supporting our businesses and their local communities by getting vaccinated and receiving the booster when eligible.”

In Avon, Governor Polis visited Colorado Pool + Spa Scapes, a 100% employee-owned business as of April 1, 2021 to celebrate National Employee-Owned Month. The Polis administration established the Employee Ownership Office and Commission to further the mission of employee ownership across the state and make employee ownership more accessible to business owners.

Governor Polis then stopped by Fill & Refill in Edwards, a small business launched in 2019, focused on plastic-free solutions for everyday products. Owned by Allison Burgurd, the company is very involved in the local community and grew a much larger following during the pandemic and is expanding into a larger retail space this summer. Fill & Refill works with local partners, businesses that want to be more sustainable and features local makers as often as possible.

Then, in Vail, Gov. Polis discussed ways we can build back better with county commissioners, Vail town council, school board members, and members of the Vail Valley Partnership.
