State of Colorado Supporting Wildfire Response on Front Range and Western Slope

STATEWIDE - Through a comprehensive, government-wide approach, the State of Colorado is supporting the response, management, and containment of fires across the front range and western slope including in San Miguel, Delta, Boulder and Larimer Counties, and monitoring for any new fires. State and federal aircraft are responding to a new wildfire in Lyons, the Stone Mountain Fire. 

“The State is rapidly responding to fires across multiple counties with a coordinated, multi-agency approach. I thank all the brave first responders and local, state and federal agencies who are currently working to protect Colorado communities and lands. Fire safety is a state-wide effort and I encourage Coloradans to practice fire safety at all times. We will continue working to help protect Coloradans, our communities, and prevent costly damage,” said Governor Polis. 

Ed Joe Draw Fire - San Miguel County 
The state Division of Fire Prevention and Control, Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, State Patrol, and Department of Transportation are providing a Type 2 helicopter and crew, a multi-mission aircraft (MMA), firefighter crews, intelligence and management support, traffic control, road closure assistance and more. 

Currant Creek Fire - Delta County 
The state Division of Fire Prevention and Control, Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, and Department of Transportation are providing a helitack crew, fire engine, three air tankers, a multi-mission aircraft, firefighter crews, intelligence and management support, communications support, and road closure assistance. 

Alexander Mountain - Larimer County 
The state Division of Fire Prevention and Control, Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, State Patrol, Department of Transportation, Department of Human Services, Department of Agriculture, Department of Public Health and Environment, and Colorado State University are coordinating in response to this fire. Collectively these departments are providing three air tankers, a FIREHAWK®, a multi-mission aircraft, staff and communications support, traffic control, shelter and volunteer support, veterinary medical teams, drone operations and more to support the strong local response from Larimer County.
