DENVER - State of Colorado government offices in Denver and surrounding suburban counties will close at 2 p.m. due to extreme weather conditions.  

State facilities essential to public health and safety will maintain regular operating schedules and “essential personnel” will maintain regular schedules.

DENVER - Gov. Polis today signed an executive order establishing the Commission on Employee Ownership. The Governor signed the executive order at the Save-A-Lot in Colorado Springs where he launched his campaign and promised to support employee ownership. 

“Increasing employee ownership will help support a strong economy and promote job security in communities across the state,” said Governor Jared Polis. “Supporting employee ownership has been a top goal and now we are taking the necessary steps to make it a reality.”

DENVER - Gov. Polis and the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) announced Colorado’s Behavioral Health Task Force today. This task force will evaluate and set the roadmap to improve the current behavioral health system in the state. This includes developing Colorado’s “Behavioral Health Blueprint” by June 2020 with anticipated implementation of recommendations starting in July 2020. 

DENVER - Gov. Polis today joined by Lt. Gov. Primavera and a variety of stakeholders unveiled the Polis-Primavera Roadmap to Saving Coloradans Money on Health Care. This roadmap outlines short and long-term action steps that will begin to reduce patient costs and improve the health care system overall.

DENVER - Gov. Jared Polis today announced that Lu Córdova would take the helm at the Colorado Department of Revenue.

DENVER - Gov. Jared Polis today ordered the United States and Colorado flags be lowered to half-staff statewide on all state owned facilities from sunrise on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, until sunset on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, in honor of the passing of U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Will Lindsay.

Lindsay’s body will return to Colorado Springs on April 3, and the unit memorial service will be held April 9.

DENVER - The 2020 Census is one year away and the State of Colorado is working on efforts to ensure a complete and accurate count. This critical process ensures that Colorado receives fair representation in Congress and its fair share of federal funding. The data collected is then used by states for redistricting.

DENVER - Governor Jared Polis released the following statement on the state’s decision to withdraw a request to extend the attainment date for the 2008 ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standard. This extension would have given Colorado additional time to come into compliance with the health-based standard. Colorado is choosing to move forward without delay to protect communities and their public health.

DENVER - Today Governor Jared Polis signed HB19-1001 into law, a landmark, bipartisan transparency bill that requires Colorado hospitals to make more of their financial information available to the public. 

Coloradans -- especially in rural communities outside the Front Range -- pay some of the highest health care costs in the country, and hospitals account for 39 percent of all health care costs in the state.
