DENVER - Gov. Jared Polis joined legislators today to introduce full-day kindergarten legislation and highlight the $185 million set aside by the Joint Budget Committee to implement this legislation. These funds will fully fund anticipated full-day kindergarten enrollment at 1.0 this year and free up over 5,000 Early Childhood At-Risk Enhancement (ECARE) slots for preschool, representing the largest increase in early childhood education in the state’s history.

DENVER - Gov. Jared Polis today appointed Eric M. Johnson as a district court judge in the 2nd Judicial District. Johnson’s appointment fills a vacancy occasioned by the retirement of the Honorable Catherine A. Lemon.

DENVER - The seven Colorado River Basin States of Colorado, Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming signed a letter to Congress today requesting legislation to implement a negotiated contingency plan that responds to the historic dry conditions and the effects of climate change on the Colorado River.

DENVER - The Governor’s Office of State Planning and Budgeting (OSPB) today released its quarterly economic forecast. 

Colorado’s economy continues growing, but at a more moderate pace than in 2017 and 2018. A rapidly growing labor force is allowing job growth to continue despite a low unemployment rate. Inflation is mild. Housing price growth and rental rate increases slowed in the second half of 2018 but affordability remains a concern. Commercial lending standards tightened slightly.  

DENVER — Wednesday, March 13, 2019 — State of Colorado government offices in Denver and surrounding suburban counties will open at 10 a.m. due to extreme weather conditions on Thursday, March 14.  There will be a two-hour delay in scheduled start times for state employees to arrive to work safely.

State facilities essential to public health and safety will maintain regular operating schedules and “essential personnel” must report to work at their normal scheduled time.

DENVER - Governor Jared Polis and Attorney General Phil Weiser will file a lawsuit in federal court today to ensure that state and local law enforcement agencies receive $2.7 million in public safety funds the state of Colorado is entitled to under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program.
