Gunnison River Basin
ABOUT THE GUNNISON RIVER BASIN
The Gunnison Basin stretches over 8,000 square miles of western Colorado, extending from the Continental Divide to the confluence of the Gunnison and Colorado Rivers near Grand Junction. The largest cities in the basin are Montrose (pop. 14,153), Delta (pop. 7,827) and Gunnison (pop. 5,271). By 2050, the Gunnison Basin is projected to increase in municipal and industrial (M&I) water demand between 16,000 and 23,000 acre feet (AF) with passive conservation included.
All Coloradans are encouraged to participate in the basin roundtable process. Contact your basin roundtable for ways to get involved.
