Fire Inspector Program Rules (8 CCR 1507-101)

All Fire Inspector Registrations expire three years from the date of issue. 

The fee for new or renewal registrations is $75.00/year for each inspector type.

The fee for new or renewal with reciprocity (you hold an ICC or NFPA Certification) is $25.00/year for each inspector type. Please click here for an explaination of our current Holiday Fee Schedule

Fire Inspector I, II or III – Plans Examiner NEW Applicants:

The following documents are required in PDF format, please have them ready prior to completing your Online Application.

Requirements without reciprocity:

  • Agency Letter
  • You must submit one of the following
    • Certification from another State at the same level
    • Current License as a PE specializing in fire protection
    • 5 years of education/work experience in fire protections and/or code enforcement

Requirements with reciprocity:

  • Agency Letter
  • Current ICC/NFPA Certification for specified level

Fire Inspector I, II or III – Plans Examiner RENEWAL Applicants:

The following documents are required in PDF format, please have them ready prior to completing your Online Application.

Renewals require 1.5 CEUs. 1.0 CEUs are rewarded for a current ICC/NFPA Cert and 0.3 CEUs are rewarded for continuous work within an agency (agency letter).  The applicant is responsible to show proof of all additional required CEUs needed. Make sure when attaining CEUs they are from a Qualified Organization

Payment

You will have the option to pay for your registration online* (check or credit card) or to mail in a check.  Registrations will not be issued until payments have been made.

*The price to make a credit card payment to DFPC will be $0.75 plus 2.25% of the transaction amount.  The flat fee for an ACH (electronic check) is $1.00.

Since the transaction must be processed through the State’s official web portal Colorado.gov, the payment is subject to portal pricing and under a contract administered under the authority of Colorado’s Statewide Internet Portal Authority as designated in statue CRS 24.37.7-101.
