Human Services Eligibility Specialist/Technician
Logan County Department of Human Services

The Logan County Human Services Department is seeking Eligibility Specialist/Technician to perform variety of entry level complex clerical duties as needed to expedite the processing of applications, determination of eligibility and the delivery of Human service assistance. Performs routine eligibility determinations and participates in the coordinating of direct services to qualified and approved clients. May be assigned as support staff to one or more specialty programs, i.e., Assistance Programs, Adult Programs/Fraud, Child Support Enforcement, or Self-Sufficiency.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1.  Education and Experience:

      A.  Graduation from high school with course background in offices practices preferred;

      AND

      B.  One (1) year of experience performing above or related duties;

      OR

      C.   Equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

2.   Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Some knowledge of bookkeeping; advanced clerical tasks related to filing, indexing, and record keeping; personal computer operation and various software applications used for word processing and spreadsheet analysis; community resources available for service as alternatives to the county; public relations and interpersonal communications skills; general methods of conflict resolution and stress management.

Some skill in interpersonal communication and telephone etiquette. Bilingual skills both in written and spoken format preferred.

Ability to plan and organize work independently; make mathematical calculations quickly and accurately; operate a variety of standard office machines; maintain objectivity in decision making while considering complicated and emotional situations; establish and maintain effective working relationships with State, Federal and Local organizations who provide similar services.

3.  Special Qualifications:

Type 50 wpm.

Must be able to operate personal computer.

Ability to communicate in both Spanish and English, written and spoken formats, preferred.

Hourly wage:  $16.0099 per hour plus benefits.

Landfill Assistant Supervisor
Logan County Landfill 

Logan County is seeking an individual to perform first-line assistant supervisory and journey level skilled duties associated with the operation and maintenance of the county landfill facilities and equipment. Assists the Landfill Supervisor in maintaining compliance with the various federal and state agency regulations related to solid waste, environmental impact, land management and overall landfill operations. This employee works under the direct supervision of the Landfill Supervisor and general supervision of the Logan County Board of County Commissioners.

HS diploma or GED plus three 3 yrs. of experience in the operation and maintenance of landfill operations and/or equipment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must possess or be able to obtain valid Colo. Commercial Driver’s license (CDL); must be able to pass ICC physical and maintain medical certificate; must be able to become SWANA certified as a “Manager of Landfill Operations” and maintain the certification through additional training and/or retaking of the test; must be able to comply with applicable county and departmental policies, safety standards, and wear required personal protective equipment.  Full job description available here.

Pay range is from $20.2856 an hour to $25.7438 an hour depending upon experience plus benefits.
