Oil and Gas Activity Monitoring

The Oil and Gas Mobile Monitoring Unit is tasked with assessing emissions of pollutants from oil and gas operations. Three state-of-the-art instrument platforms are operated in different ways to respond to community reported health concerns, investigate actual emissions compared to reported emissions, and hold polluting facilities accountable.

The Colorado Air Monitoring Mobile Lab (CAMML) is a mobile trailer equipped with scientific instruments for measuring speciated volatile organic compounds VOCs, particularly benzene due to the health implications (ENG/ESP) associated with it. In addition to VOCs, the CAMML routinely measures other pollutants such as NO, NO2, methane, and particulate matter (PM2.5 & PM10) along with meteorological parameters to help us identify potential emission sources. The CAMML has significant power requirements to operate and therefore is typically deployed from 3-6 weeks, depending on the overall sampling priorities of the work unit.
