DENVER - In partnership with the legislature, Governor Polis signed a number of landmark bills into law this year, including legislation that takes effect on July 1, 2023, to reduce auto theft and make Colorado one of the ten safest states in the nation and take bold climate action towards achieving 100% renewable energy by 2040. Transformative legislation passed during this legislative session and signed into law by Gov. Polis will also see budget transfers to implement this work starting July 1, 2023.

BOULDER – The State of Wyoming and State of Colorado announced today that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding direct air capture (DAC) activity and development. The bipartisan inter-state agreement will focus on the DAC industry’s potential to complement existing and emerging industries and increase jobs and economic development in both states while simultaneously reducing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Governors Mark Gordon and Jared Polis announced the news during the Western Governor Association meeting today in Boulder, Colorado.
BOULDER- Last summer, in an effort to help meet his goal of achieving 100% renewable energy by 2040, Governor Polis launched Heat Beneath Our Feet, a geothermal initiative spearheaded by the Governor and the Western Governors Association. Under Governor Polis’s leadership and in partnership with the legislature, Colorado continues to lead the nation on renewable energy and is well on its way toward achieving 100% renewable energy by 2040.
DENVER – Today, Governor Polis and the Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry Office (OREC) of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) announced 12 new recipients of the Colorado State Outdoor Recreation grant across the state. These grants will promote career development, hiring efforts and marketing in Colorado’s thriving outdoor recreation sector and have been awarded to organizations from Craig to Ridgway and Arvada to Colorado City.

BOULDER - Today, Governor Polis welcomed bipartisan governors from Western states to Colorado for the start of the Western Governors’ Association (WGA) annual meeting held this year in Boulder. As WGA Chair, Governor Polis will highlight the bold and innovative progress of his Chair Initiative, The Heat Beneath Our Feet, in expanding geothermal energy research and exploration across the West. Governor Polis’s term as WGA Chair concludes at the end of the gathering.
DENVER – Today, Gov. Polis and the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) announced the first 46 recipients of the Opportunity Now Colorado grant program to support the creation and expansion of innovative workforce and talent development initiatives across the state. These grants are intended to help connect more Coloradans with in-demand, high-skill, high-wage occupations.
DENVER - Today, Governor Polis appointed Elise V. Myer to fill a vacancy on the 9th Judicial District Court. This vacancy was created by the retirement of the Honorable James Berkley Boyd and is effective July 1, 2023.
