The findings, presented during the Prenatal-to-3 Policy Impact Center’s Great Progress, Great Opportunities 51-state convening in Denver, highlight Colorado’s achievements in expanding programs and resources for infants, toddlers, and their families since 2020.

    DENVER — Today, Governor Polis, the Outdoor Equity Grant Board and Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) announced the recipients of $3 million in Outdoor Equity Grants. These grants, funded through the Colorado Lottery, support organizations that break down barriers to Colorado’s outdoors and create inclusive opportunities for youth and families to take part in education, conservation and job training opportunities in the outdoors.

    DENVER – Today, Governor Polis and the Global Business Development Division of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) announced that Peak Energy, the first American venture to advance sodium-ion battery systems, has selected Broomfield, Colorado for expansion. By developing sodium-ion battery cells in Colorado, the startup will strengthen the national supply chain for this battery technology and contribute to the state’s leadership in the renewable energy transition.

    Increasing Access to Colorado’s Iconic Slopes: Polis Administration Supports Reopening of Cuchara Mountain Park in Huerfano County

    DENVER – Today, Governor Polis and the Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry Office (OREC) of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) announced the largest infrastructure project to receive funding through the Colorado State Outdoor Recreation grant (COSORG). Panadero Ski Corporation received $250,000 to support operational expenses related to Cuchara Mountain Park, a small ski area in Huerfano County which closed in 2000 and will reopen for the 2024-2025 ski season on Dec. 14.

    Governors Urge Preservation of National Guard Authority in NDAA

    Washington, D.C. – National Governors Association (NGA) Chair Colorado Governor Jared Polis and Vice Chair Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt released the following statement regarding provisions on National Guard authority in the just released legislative text for the FY25 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Governors from all 55 states and territories have repeatedly urged Congress to reject Legislative Proposal 480 (LP 480), which would reassign specified Air National Guard units to the U.S. Space Force without legally required approval from Governors. In the legislative text released Saturday, Committee members failed to include House Wilson amendment language, which rightly upholds U.S.C. Title 10 and Title 32 authorities within the National Guard.

The declaration enabled State agencies to coordinate response, consequence management, hazard mitigation, and recovery efforts.
