    Governor Polis, Governors From Across the Country Encourage Biden Administration & Federal Government to Reschedule Cannabis Rescheduling of Marijuana will Make Communities Safer

    DENVER - Today, Governor Polis led a letter to the Biden administration with Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards, Maryland Governor Wes Moore, New York Governor Kathy Hochul, and New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy. The Governors applauded President Biden for reconsidering the classification of cannabis and encouraged the federal government to reschedule cannabis. Governor Polis, and the Governors, expressed their hope that the Drug Enforcement Administration will reschedule cannabis from Schedule I to Schedule III this year. Nearly 88% of Americans are in favor of legalization for medical and recreational use. This action would rectify this outdated designation, which risks small businesses and public safety.

    Governor Polis Orders Flags to be Lowered to Honor Sergeant Michael Moran

    DENVER- Governor Polis ordered the flags to be lowered to half-staff tomorrow, Wednesday, December 6, 2023, to honor Sergeant Michael Moran, who was killed in the line of duty last week. Flags should be lowered tomorrow, the day of the service, from sunrise to sunset on all public buildings statewide.

    DENVER - Today, Governor Polis announced Computer Science Education Week in Colorado. Computer Science Education Week is an annual call to celebrate the field of Computer Science, draw students to learn the field, and advocate for equity in the industry. Computer Science is ingrained in daily life through technology, privacy, security, and accessibility. Students who learn Computer Science will not only help drive innovative programming but play a critical role in understanding the social, ethical, economic, and environmental impacts of computing.

    Governor Polis Announces Governor’s Residence Public Holiday Tours, Welcomes Coloradans to Tour Colorado’s Home

    DENVER - Today, Governor Polis announced the annual Governor’s Residence at Boettcher Mansion Holiday Tours. Open to the public annually around the holidays, Coloradans from across our state can tour the Governor’s Residence on Friday and Saturday, December 8th and 9th from 10 am-2 pm. Members of the public are asked to express interest in a tour through this Governor’s Office Form; however, walk-ins are welcomed.

    Polis Administration Releases First-Of-Its-Kind Climate Preparedness Roadmap

    DENVER - Today, Colorado released the first Climate Preparedness Roadmap, which focuses on ways to better understand, prepare for, and adapt to the impacts of climate change, and outlines actions the administration can take to protect Colorado’s future. The state also concurrently continues its nation-leading efforts to reduce greenhouse gas pollution. The Climate Preparedness Roadmap was produced by the newly formed Governor’s Office of Climate Preparedness and Disaster Recovery through the passage of SB22-206, sponsored by Senate President Steve Fenberg and Representative Judy Amabile.
